Merging my passion for motorsports with photography has been a whole new learning experience apart from the one that I went through for the stick-and-ball sports. I’ve been fortunate to have access and work for all kinds of sporting events at Rutgers through working for the school paper and other outlets for high school and collegiate sports. So I find myself working up my chops all over again for a whole new business, all over again.

For me, that’s meant getting out to races and, from the general admission spectator areas, making the best images I can think of. That challenge got a little steeper with my trip this weekend to Watkins Glen, New York, to the track named for the town. Beyond the historical significance of “The Glen” being the most successful host to the United States Formula 1 Grand Prix, it’s also where I first found my passion for car racing going to this same race (before its six-hour endurance format was revived in 1996, which I also attended.
